Dear Terry
Carlbom
RAHA, the independent writers' home, is an association of independent
writers belonging to different communities, nationalities, colour and
languages that fights for the freedom of reading, writing and speech.
RAHA was founded two years ago in exile. Now we plan to set up the
central office in Afghanistan. If you visit the RAHA website and go to
the RAHA membership section and see the list of RAHA members, you would
understand that RAHA is a global association of writers. The title line
of our organization is: RAHA, THE INDEPENDENT WRITERS' HOME,
International Pen Club, Afghanistan Centre — not INTERNATIONAL PEN. Both
have no connection whatsoever. Sorry to tell you that we cannot change
the title 'RAHA, the independent writers' home, international pen club,
Afghanistan centre.' Any change in title needs the permission of all
RAHA members, and they are not ready for that. Also, we would not like
to become a branch of yours in Kabul, Afghanistan. We would like to be
independent.
However, going by the RAHA charter, we can of course cooperate as two
independent organisations, if you wish. And it would be a honour for us
to be associated with an organisatioin like yours of international
repute and with great writers like your president, Mario Vargas Llosa,
Arthur Miller, Boris A Novak and others. The our main aim is to support
independent writers and global literature. We chose Afghanistan as our
centre because the country needs people like us since it requires more
reading and writing.
RAHA charter
RAHA is the association of the independent writers belonging to the
difference geography, nationality, color and language that writes in the
fight for the freedom of reading, writing and speech
RAHA is the free thinking movement that creates in genres of poetry,
fiction, play-book, criticism, translation, mythology, legend,
linguistics, and other theoretical domains
RAHA believes in freedom of reading, writing and speech and fights
against all limitation and any censorship of ideas
As the mind has no boundaries, the RAHA concept does not have frontiers
and is opposed to information and cultural control by global
communication entities whether media conglomerates, states or local
governments, or religions
RAHA endeavors to publish and propagate independent writers’ work with
all available technologies
The writer’s creation of mind should be read and it is the inalienable
right of the writer to think about the living conditions of world
cultures and to share it with readers
As is the case with all other classes of people, the writer should have
the same living rights and other human rights to express his gift to
humanity
RAHA is the center for the independent writer’s free men and women with
pens and is not dependent on any individual, group, union, organization,
or government
RAHA is ready to co-operate with any individual, group, union or
organization with the above common objectives
Best Regards
